SCA Expo, barista training, and my chai opinions
Salutations, friends!
Butterfly pea powder, signature matchas, and lavender lattes are popping up on cafe menus around town, which can only mean one thing… SPRING!
Besides rose-pistachio-cardamom syrups and allergies, spring is notorious for inciting change. Whether it’s a handful of two-week notices, exciting plans for expansion, or just some new vandalism on the dumpster, please know you’re not alone in your March (April?) madness. We’ll get through it! We always do ❤️
This week: SCA Expo in Chicago
I’m traveling to Chicago tomorrow to assist in a few SCA workshops, volunteer at the World Brewer’s Cup, and commune with my fellow coffee nerds. I’m super excited, especially given this is my first year attending as a small business owner and my first time EVER in Chicago! Any and all recommendations are welcome, and I hope to see you there!
In other news, Barista Friend industry training is officially a GO! I’m taking on a few more clients in the coming months, so if you know a cafe or restaurant that could use a helping hand with barista training, please send them my way! Chai Tasting at Likeness Studios
Aaaand a big ol’ thank you to everyone who came out to our Chai Tasting last weekend! It was so silly and fun to taste six different chais side-by-side with you. Our favorites were all over the board, but mine were Dona (sweet and delicate) and local chai purveyors Kimbala (complex and tea-forward). Soul had the cutest packaging (and the spiciest flavor), and Rishi was by far the crowd-pleaser. I hope you’ll join us for the next pop-up! 🥰
